A. Pendahuluan
Dalam sejarahnya umat manusia senantiasa memperbaiki taraf kehidupannya, diantara peradabannya itu kita mengenal dengan terminologi “teknologi”, yang dimana teknologi itu hadir sebagai upaya manusia mencari-cari cara/ teknis tertentu yang dapat semakin mempermudah kehidupannya. Pada akhir abad ke-18 dan awal dari abad ke-19, ditandai dengan munculnya revolusi industri dimana perubahan secara besar-besaran baik dari segi teknologi, sosioekonomi maupun budaya telah menghantarkan babak baru bagi peradaban manusia ke jaman serba mesin, automatisasi dan bahkan kini komputerisasi.
Dalam perjalanannya, ternyata ada sisi gelap dari kehidupan manusia yaitu peperangan, seperti Perang Dunia I (1914-1918) dan Perang Dunia II yang terjadi Perang Dingin (1945-1989). Kebanyakan orang menilai peperangan itu disebabkan oleh perang kepentingan semata, namun tidak sedikit pula yang menyalahkan karena adanya perbedaan keyakinan dalam agama, seperti dalam Perang Salib yang dimulai oleh kaum Kristiani (1095–1291). Terlepas dari itu semua, sebenarnya peperangan dalam upaya meng-kudus-kan kepentingan ego tertentu dengan manafikan secara radikal ego orang lain merupakan nilai universal dari sisi negatif manusia yang terbatas dalam hal ke-materi-annya.
